Novak Djokovic beat Andy Roddick in straight sets.

Posted by QB on August 10, 2007

Novak Djokovic beat Andy Roddick in straight sets in Rogers Cup Quarter Finals.  This  was the first time that Djokovic and  Roddick  played against each other, the first few games were when both the players evaluated each other and the first set was even till 10th game. Roddick was broken because he move to the net at the wrong time and Djokovic took advantage by hitting perfect passing shorts down the line. Roddick get the break back in the next game and the first set was decided in tie breaker. Djokovic again break Roddick in second set which was good enough for him to win the set and the match.

The expert who was comparing Roddick yesterday with Federer and Nadal was so wrong that he did not analyze his game properly. Roddick has the tendency of losing the game when he failed to get early break. He start making errors, his serve level goes down and his opponent take advantage of the situation and break his service game with 90% chance of winning the match. It is the job of the coach to him how to deal with the situation which Jimmy Connors and his elder brother John Roddick has failed to do. The commentators and experts talk plenty about Jimmy Connors greatness as tennis player which is not reflected in his coaching. Brad Gilbert was was better coach than Jimmy Connors who did help Roddick to win US Open with number 1 ranking.
