Tennis – Roger Federer Fifth Consecutive Wimbledon Title.

Posted by QB on July 8, 2007

Roger Federer today tied Bjorn Borg five consecutive Wimbledon Title record. The final was very interesting tense match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Roger Federer win the first set in tie breaker lost second set to Nadal when the match was tied until Federer again win the third set in tie breaker.  Federer  lost the fourth set to Nadal and the match was again tied to two set each. Federer was playing the whole match under pressure not playing his best tennis until fifth set when he break Nadal service game twice winning the championship for the fifth time.

It would be very difficult but not impossible for Federer to create a new record of winning Wimbledon six consecutive time because there are so many youngsters who has the game and the talents to win against him on any good day. The most promising young Tennis player with consistent winning is Novak DJokovic and than there is Nadal, Richard Gasquet , Marcos  Baghdatis and Andy Murray who did not play this year Wimbledon due to wrist injury.

Andy Roddick was knocked out by Richard Gasquet in Quarter Finals and Federer beat him in the Semis in three straight sets. Roddick had the two sets lead in that match and he still lost that match to Gasquet in fifth set. I have analyze that his game start falling apart when his service games are broken and it is when he even forget to use his most feared weapon serve. This is what always happened and I am surprise that his coaches did not paid any attention to this problem. The coaches must prepare him mentally to be positive no matter how many times his service games are broken and this is the only way for Roddick to survive the tough Tennis matches.

The next big Tennis event is US Open.
