US detained Venezuela Foreign Minister.

Posted by QB on September 24, 2006

This is very cheap retaliation tactic used by Bush regime try to detain Venezuela’s Foreign Minister. I am sure majority of Americans must be dancing in joy and trying to justify this stupidity of their brainless regime. They really did not humiliated Hugo Chavez or the Foreign Minister they have showed their real undemocratic side of US.

Venezuela President Hugo Chavez told Venezuela’s state TV broadcaster that U.S. officials alleged that Maduro had links to a failed coup that Chavez led in Venezuela in 1992.

Hugo Chavez called it “vulgar provocation.”

A statement issued late Saturday said the Cuban leader reacted “with indignation” upon hearing that Nicolas Maduro was detained for 90 minutes at John F. Kennedy International Airport. He said the incident was an “unacceptable violation” of international norms regarding diplomats.

Venezuela Foreign Minister Maduro said in press conference that he was illegally detained hand cuffed by the US after showing them his diplomatic passport and he further stated that the verbal abuse increased after that. Moduro called it US aggressive use of their power.
U.S. officials called Saturday’s incident regrettable and said they had apologized to Maduro. Maduro called that insufficient and said Venezuela would seek a legal challenge through the United Nations to what he called a “flagrant violation of international law” and his diplomatic immunity.

“They have held him accusing him of participating in terrorist acts here,” Chavez said in Venezuela. “He didn’t even participate in that patriotic rebellion,” he said referring to the uprising he led while still an army officer.

The US and its homeland security must have let him go without any delay or detention once identified as the Foreign Minister of Venezuela but the present regime like to call everyone “terrorist” who disagree with their policies.
