Resolution on Israel’s nuclear issue blocked at IAEA conference

Posted by QB on September 23, 2006

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) annual conference on Friday failed to adopt a resolution aimed at labeling Israel’s nuclear capabilities a threat.

The draft resolution, which was backed by some 20 countries, including 15 Arab nations, called on Israel to give up its ambition to possess nuclear weapons, and become a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

After heated discussions, the motion was blocked from going to a vote by Israel’s allies and some other countries, and was taken off the agenda of the five-day 50th Annual Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference.

At Friday’s General Conference, 11 countries — Austria, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Croatia, Ethiopia, Finland, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan and Thailand — were newly elected to serve on the 35-member IAEA Board of Governors for the 2006-2007 period.

The IAEA annual meeting, which ended on Friday at the Austria Center in the Austrian capital of Vienna, was attended by high-level delegates from the body’s 140 member states.

US keep blocking resolutions against Israel no matter what and then they claim to be the champion of democracy and freedom without realising their dictatorial behaviours. This is courageous efforts by IAEA to at-least bring to their agenda, this is the resolution which can bring the real peace in Middle East. This will make the Middle East more stable because Arabs will not have the fear of getting nuked by Israel.

Jews must not trust these radical Christians who have deep rooted against Jews because they believe that they killed their god. Israel survivor peace stability all depends on giving the Palestinians their independence. Israel can’t nuke all the Arab countries no matter how badly they wanted too, nuclear weapons will bring no peace between Israel and Arabs.
