Pope irresponsible quote. Update.

Posted by QB on September 18, 2006

Pope use that quote intentionally knowing very well that it will cause a wave of violence and demonstrations among the Muslims. The violence which break out in all the Muslim countries is now getting used to promote more hatred against Islam and Muslims.

“I wish the Catholic pope had considered the reaction to his remarks,” the head of the Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope Shenouda III, told journalists Sunday.

“Being enthusiastic about one’s religion shouldn’t lead to judging other peoples’ religions. “Criticizing others’ faith breeds enmity and divisions.”

The leader of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood said the Islamic political movement’s relations with Christians should remain “good, civilized and cooperative.”

“While anger over the pope’s remarks was necessary, it shouldn’t last for long because while he is the head of the Catholic church in the world, many Europeans are not following it. So what he said won’t influence them,” Mohammed Mahdi Akef said.

“Any Palestinian citizen should stop attacking Christian churches in the Palestinian territories. The Christian brothers are a part of the Palestinian people, and I heard the highest Christian authority in Palestine denouncing the statements against Islam and against Muslims.” Hamas.

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The New York Times published an editorial, in which it called “The New York Times published an editorial, in which it called Pope Benedict XVI’s latest remarks about Islam gic and dangerous” and urged him to apologize.” Pope Benedict XVI’s latest remarks about Islam “tragic and dangerous” and urged him to apologize.

Quoting a 14th-century Byzantine emperor on the Prophet Mohammed, founder of the Muslim faith, the head of the Roman Catholic Church said: “He said, I quote, ‘Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'”

The Times recalled that this was “not the first time the pope has fomented discord between Christians and Muslims.”

In 2004 when he was still the Vatican’s top theologian, he spoke out against Turkeys joining the European Union, because Turkey, as a Muslim country was in permanent contrast to Europe, the paper recalled.” Vatican’s top theologian, he spoke out against Turkeys joining the “European Union”

“A doctrinal conservative, his greatest fear appears to be the loss of a uniform Catholic identity, not exactly the best jumping-off point for tolerance or interfaith dialogue,” the editorial said.

“The world listens carefully to the words of any pope,” The Times continued. “And it is tragic and dangerous when one sows pain, either deliberately or carelessly. He needs to offer a deep and persuasive apology, demonstrating that words can also heal.”

Very fair and unbiased editorial by New York Times.

The reaction of the Muslims will always be fierce because they have more emotions than the knowledge about Islam. Pope should know this very well before quoting that Byzantine emperor in his speech and if he did not know that it will cause furry in the Muslim world than Pope is an old foolish idiot with no wisdom.

The Eygptian Catholic Chruch reaction was the most intelligent and accurate that Pope quotation will play very well with Al Qaeda which are now vowing to wage their holy jihad against Pope. The other very interesting news was that Pope statement has united the Iraqis which will be a disaster for US occupation military.

This is my first entry on Pope after reading the hatred against Islam and Muslim on the media and blogs.

The people who are spreading hatred against Islam and Muslims because of their ignorance and lack of information should know that Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Egypt has very large number of Christians living there peacefully without facing any violence or threats due to Pope’s stupid quote. There are Christians in the whole Middle East countries who did not get targeted nor did face any threat to their lives and properties. Don’t make the issue of couple of Churches burning in Gaza and killing of one Italian Nun in Somalia to create more division among Christians and Muslims.

Pope is hypocrite. My latest post on Pope.

the pope has apologised, why must muslims kill people to demonstrate or convey their point.
if muslims keep killing people like this (see my post on it) how can they convince the world that they stand for peace.

Emeka the response of Muslims is always very uncivilized and this is due to lack of education and absolutely no knowledge about Qur’an. As I said that they are people who have emtions instead of knowledge. The burning of Churches only happened in Gaza which were very strongly condemned by Hamas government. There was only one killing of Italian Nun in Somalia where death does not mean much to them as they kill hundreds of men women children on minor disagreements.

This is not the first time that Pope has intentionally try to play with the Muslims sentiments as pointed out by New York Times editorial. Pope could have avioded all this with better approach that what is expected from the leader of Catholic Church.

Also note that this has created more division and is generating hatred against Muslims and Islam.

By acting violently, Muslims have shown that the Catholic Pope is 110% correct. They are not peaceful, but violent. Islam is a violent religion. Any Muslim who says their faith is a religion of peace, either does not know their religion or is lying (which is sinful). Islam has many “violent” connotations. The fact that demonstrators are that immature that in the wake of images of Muhammed or statements by Pope Benedict that they damage churches (which are by the way not Catholic – but other denominations not under Benedict) then this reflects poorly on both Islam, and muslim people. Displaying that they can only resolve problems and show their anger violently.

Christians generally do not behave this way. Everyday one sees something new that is totally offensive, especially depections of Christ. But do we see mosques getting burnt down as a result, or other violent acts? No. We do not. Islam is both violent and immature to an extent. The treatment of Christians and Jews in middle eastern countries (outside of Israel ofcourse) is 10000000 times worse than any remark, which is not untrue, by the Pope.

    Grow up.
